Hey guys, I'k at my wits end hither, I hope someone can assist me out...

I take a PS4 Pro, bought at launch. I play mainly digital games but I have some on disc which I play from time to time.

Decided to pick up a couple of games today, physical copies and both are giving me the same crappy error at seemingly random times:

Cannot continue using the application. The disc cannot be read. Brand certain the disc is not damaged or dingy

This happens without fail with both of the games I got today within five mins of starting to play the game, resulting in 2 options: either the console forcibly makes me quit the game and squirt the disc, or I can put the console in to residuum style and the switch it back on to bypass the error screen and play... But for the aforementioned matter to happen 2-five mins later.

Anyone have whatever ideas? My girlfriend played a totally different physical game on the same console (different profile) for like 6 hours yesterday and today with no problems. Both discs are lightly worn, but not bad.

I realise this isn't tech support btw, but am I boned?

EDIT: I tried rebuilding the database, full power cycle etc.

Same thing has happened with my Ghost Recon Wildlands disc for PS4. I played that game daily and recently went back to reinstall it to play the new DLC and I am getting the same mistake. My discs are MINT and I treat them like heirlooms. I am wondering if ane of the latest updates take acquired this...

I have PS4 pro and at startup information technology'll tell me the disc inside is unreadable. Information technology's super annoying this started happening exactly i twelvemonth and ane month afterward I bought it.

Gonna call Sony tomorrow.

Pretty much. Especially equally the game still runs in the groundwork of the mistake screen and fully resumes when I go in to residuum style and and then ability up once more.

Were the games used? Only thing I can think of is there'south minor scratches on the disk art on the meridian. Patently the laser will accept issues reading information technology if that's the case.

This happened to me in one case. I tried rebuilding the database merely it didn't work. And then I deleted similar 25 gigs worth of games and the discs started working over again (even when I thought I already had enough space). Not sure if that'll gear up your problem though.

Were the games used? Merely thing I can think of is there'due south small scratches on the disk art on the top. Manifestly the laser will have bug reading it if that's the case.

They were yes, merely the other game which is working fine is also used. I'll bank check the disc art though!

Hey guys just a quick update/bump as I posted this belatedly last dark.

And then I managed to try the troublesome games in my friend's PS4 and they worked perfectly.

I was at my wits end when I decided to delete my salvage game and system data for i of the games (Nier Automata) and lo and behold I was able to play the game for more ii mins without the error. In fact I was able to fully complete the first of the game (the demo area) even dying in one case.

And then.. POOF! As presently equally the boss was over and the next role loaded, the error was at that place again. Even so the game notwithstanding resumed fine when I put the console into rest mode and dorsum out over again.

TLDR: All other disc games piece of work fine on my panel. The 2 games I installed yesterday work fine in another console. The just fourth dimension the troublesome games have worked on my console, is when I cleared the save/system data for it.

Does anyone have whatsoever thought what is going on hither?
